I will say I’m impressed with the level of creep factor consistent throughout the book. The random campy lines too make me giggle

This lowkey campy horror. Like spooky with scary stuff and pranks but all these rich kids lol

Initial thoughts: 1. “Jesus tap dancing Christ” 2. How is this family so rich when he is just a priest of some kind 2. A lot of brand name drops 3. wtf is a purity ball in 2007. The authors language is a little bit too metaphory, trying to hard vibe, though some of the images that sneak in are rlly good

The Keith arc went crazy

Jo acting as the idle complainer while Lauren is set into motion by the death of Amy. Also love this binary opposition-esque juxtaposition of Lauren being the “fortunate” and “lucky” for having a wall and little food and homes with 12 people because most people are homeless and sick and arsonists ? lol

I already like the way there are these universal isms that are relevant even in a dystopian world

The story of laia was so incredibly tragic and the story of De Luna and the dragon was incredible. I love how much this series reveres storytelling and the power of the story
