This is so much more than I thought it would be

I forgot how quickly I can fly through a book that’s written in modern English

I feel so bad for this man’s wife, he is NEVER home

Putting this on pause - not gonna take it traveling and truly don’t care after the “surprise”

of course 🙄

can a single solitary historical fiction exist without the virgin-turned-surprise pregnancy trope?? Tempted to DNF out of annoyance

Similarly to the first book, it’s taken about 200 pages for me to be engaged in the story, which I don’t think should happen with the second book in a series! Doesn’t help that we are STILL intro’ing more POV’s and side characters.

Info dumpy and pretty simple writing, but I’m chalking it up to being the first book in a very long series
