Lol "scrotum lifting tension". A ridiculous phrase, but one I perfectly understand.

This represents the "stories ) essay" section of the collection for me, the novels having been shelved elsewhere. Despite her claim to hate writing short fiction, so of this is at least as good, if not better, than her novels. Bloodchild is still among my favorite sci Fi pieces.

Reminds me a bit of "Dreams of Amputation" in that it's cyberpunk not in the sense of technological fixation, but rather through a grubby, violent scenery of detritus.
