Just started but dare I say Spencer was inspired by Mary Balogh’s Wulfric Bedwyn, the Duke of Bewcastle??!?!

Wow, this book is terrible. Just, flat out bad. But I’m a glutton for punishment and can’t quit. Just came across this gem of a line: “we can trace our lines back to Greece to some head cook who served Caesar himself.” ….. um….Julius Caesar ruled Rome. Not Ancient Greece.

Devouring this book. 1/2 way through and lamenting that I only have 209 pages left. When is the third coming out!?!?!

I’m bailing. Gregory’s writing is making me want to pull my hair out. The sentence structure is so basic and every sentence seemingly starts with a pronoun. I know it’s written in first person, but can’t we get a little creative? It seems to be developing a bit as the book goes on so I guess there’s an argument that the simplistic writing style mimics the protagonist’s sophistication (or lack thereof)?
