But which was the keystone, and how to get at it? How to touch them and get a thing started in all of them to make a ruin of their hate?

Loving this so far. Empirical data cited with sources, careful dissection of how the perception of gender impacts the speaker, and clear evaluation of how female public figures face unprecedented and disproportionate levels of scrutiny compared to their male counterparts. Oh, and the chapter covering linguistics of curse words was a lot of fun!

Fun and informative. None of it seems to drone on. The author narrates, and her enthusiasm for the subject is contagious.

Oh, it's going DOWN. I love the world building, suspense, and characterizations.

Definitely reading this all over again once finished. I am so happy to find something I consider profoundly curious.

I find myself going to each inspirational material referenced in the discussions. Will be listening to a few sections on repeat for my curiosity to chew on.

Slow build, not really digging one of the characters and consider them with contempt already, lol.

60s atmosphere, complete with misogyny and gender roles that scrutinize the dynamics of a marriage between a stellar athlete wife and a seemingly well-to-do husband. Need to know how this crumbles lol

Brings me back to 9th grade English honors. Also, I can not ignore that the theme of tech as a replacement for parenting in the first story is eerily similar to today's iPad kids and Roblox tweens. Smarthomes are already on the verge of integrating AR/VR environments. Finally, compound all this with AI... Bradbury was far ahead of his time.

The cast of characters and their motivations are a tangled rat's nest of self-expression, self-sabotage, and self-loathing. The difficulty in identifying the true sequence of events amongst the unwell and unreliable narrators captivates me right now. I do not have high hopes, just tunnel-vision curiosity.

Eerie, curious, strained, disturbed—all of this layered with a deeply clinical swath of cynicism.

I'm spellbound. I haven't read something that has enriched and engrossed me to this degree in years.

I like it so far. One type of content in the story got under my skin. We'll see how far that goes. There is candidness the main character has when describing certain events that feels unsettling in a neutral way.

The prose is unbelievably wonderful. I'm enjoying this so much I will likely buy a hardcover copy if the plot and characterization maintain a quality pace through to the end.

The satire is refreshing so far. I also love that because I am listening to the audiobook. The first thing you will hear after the title intro is the dedication...to her cat. Laughed so hard I snorted. It would not have hit same way if it weren't read aloud.
