What a treat! If Bradbury wrote about an anxious robot.

Hmmm not quite notes, more like pseudo-memoir-commentary with both anecdotal and scientific content to boot. Not a fan of when sections start waxing poetic, but I am a fan of when Amanda brings up a statement and backs it up with science in a primary source.

Delicate and tense. At this point in the story there is physical and psychilogical abuse so I'm making a note of it here in the hopes this warning can provide use to anyone interested in reading it.

Drawing from the instructions to deadlift is something I appreciate very much from the author. Physical to emotional cues are sticking with me in a more visceral, natural way.

"Studies suggest that nearly 90% of millennials mistrust traditional advertising tactics, and the numbers are even higher with Gen Z. The kind of messaging that worked on older generations is a tactic of the past. Anybody trying to push an idea or agenda today must rely on comedy."

Just the kind of dark, twisted domestic thriller I was hoping for. Anxious for the climax, ending, and fallout.

"No ruler could resist the temptation of trying to alter reality with the stroke of a pen, and if disaster resulted, the remedy seemed to consist of writing ever more voluminous memos and issuing ever more codes, edicts, and orders."

The accuracy of this book's contents are what cause me to need to take a break from it for months at a time.

A lot of therapy-speak so far, and I disagree with the author's perspective on fatphobia. That will never go away, in my opinion, and I very much believe it's for good reason. However, I do really like this as my intro to embodied therapy.

Absolutely devouring this story. Domestic psychological thrillers are something I usually gravitate towards and I am eager to see what twists this story takes.
