The tv show is honestly so much better. Anthony is an asshole in the show yes, but he’s like actually insufferable in the book more so. Stepping on her hands and kicking her in the stomach? Yeah sure seems like love to me. I get that’s it’s kind of this enemies to lovers thing but it’s also giving “he bullies you because he likes you” bs. Also Kate in the tv show is a million times better

Leonie and Grey’s relationship is so fun, I love the playful banter and the subtle romantic hints. I also like how the writing style reflects a modern style or social interaction with the use of they/them pronouns and even female romantic partners.

So far I feel like this is what I was searching for in a fantasy world. A well thought out plot and storyline with interesting developed characters who fit their ages.

I enjoy that in meetings with higher ranking military officials and the master mages, both Kier and Grey make mistakes in their discussions. They mess up in a professional sense and speak out of turn. Their decisions and actions reflect on their young age but also in their experience and power. They are confident in their resolve and in what they do.

I like that the friendship/relationship is already developed prior to meeting the characters. I think this is pretty refreshing and we can see that they have been through a lot and where the feelings have developed from rather than a rushed sequence of newly meeting to a relationship.
