Listening to the audiobook/podcast read by the author, and it is absolutely delightful and silly. Great for reading between more serious books.

I already think I'm gonna love this book because holy shit the writing is just so good!

Some interesting subject matter, but it was really hard to get past the outdated lingo. I kept wondering if there might be a better book to read on the subject. I skimmed a ton.

I heard Doughty on the Freakonomics podcast and was completely fascinated by this subject and her ideas. I'm listening to her read the audiobook of this, and it does not disappoint so far!

This is taking me FOREVER. It's not capturing my attention, but I really want to finish it and be more knowledgeable about Norse mythology so I can answer all the Jeopardy questions :P

Gahhh is he the definition of bad luck, or WHAT?! I love you, Dickens, but I feel so bad for poor little Oliver I almost don't wanna keep reading. But of course I will.

This book wasn't super realistic to begin with, but it just got even less believable. Hrrmm...

This book started out with a bang and kept the momentum going for awhile. But I just got through the part where we find out more of Bernadette's back story, and the momentum has languished--which wouldn't be a terrible thing, but the section after that seems to have faltered in terms of dialogue and pace. I can't quite explain it. The scene at the space needle restaurant--the dialogue feels choppy.

Gahh I'm trying not to fault him for being a product of his generation, but the sexism is getting to me. "If you are a man, skip this paragraph [about a girl overcoming worry]. It won't interest you" But allll the stories about men are useful and interesting, eh??? Countless other things, like basically saying women shouldn't worry because it makes their faces look older 🙄😑
