This man is mad.

“Donut, be cool”

Carl have u learned nothing?

Hekla was what now???

I actually don’t understand why his intelligence isn’t higher. bro it’s a genius

“A single mom who works two jobs”

Carl I fucking love u. U mad bastard.

I’m enjoying the while whimsical wonderland vibe. But I feel like not much is happening.

“My grandson is an unwilling operative of the scarlet guard…”

Your grandson just rode the lighting babe. I don’t think it’s unwilling.

Fucking knew she liked girls.

I reckon she’s gonna give herself up as a distraction when this all goes wrong. We’ve not had Cameron ranting and raving about the child soldiers for nothing. It’s pushing mare to sacrifice herself I just know it

Writing is deffos slightly better on this one.
Some of the bits of dialogue are pretty good.
Still enjoying myself immensely icl.
I think I’ve cracked the reading slump with this one

Fuckin knew it.

Maven has named these guys to get rid of them for his own personal gain hasn’t he
I do not. Trust him.

Feels a bit like I’m witnessing a version of the great Tessa, Will and Jem love triangle.

(But I don’t actually trust either of them)

This is bringing back the nostalgia of the 2010s fantasy/dystopian romance in the best way possible. Genuinely might be able to overlook some of the bad writing just for that.

I’m literally 11 years old and discovering Cassandra Claire for the first time all over again.

She released a breath she didn’t know she was holding………

I’m finding it really difficult to picture the vibe of this place and the technology and the setting. Like it’s all a bit weird in my mind. I don’t feel like I’ve got a clear picture of it

Extremely suspicious of maven despite him being friendly

Started reading this on the plane for a light read. Whilst the prose aren’t generally very impressive I am aware she was quite young when she wrote it so I can definitely see the potential she has that I assume has only improved in her later books.
So far I’m pretty interested in the story. Hopefully this will get me out of a reading slump

Dad???

Damn.

There’s still 30% to go. What is gonna go wrong? Who is going to prison?? Who is dying???
There better be a happy ending cos I cba if there isn’t

“I can’t believe she keeps saying no”

Me too bro me too.

“And a black male is what I am”.
LMFAOOO I’m so unamused by u rn mate

Ok Edward Cullen??? Why are we watching her sleep?

I fear too much is happening too quickly here how have we gone from kissing one second to him leaving the next?? And it’s like not even that far into the book

Legit what is sunny contributing to this fight???

Ik she’s probs gonna have have a moment or whatever but rn she’s just like 🧍‍♂️

Right I get that they’re supposed to fight the big scary black hat but I’m more scared of her dad and what he’s gonna do when she inevitably comes home late.

I feel like a kid wishing I had magic all over again lmaoo

I feel like this could have been shorter
