Chapters 1 & 2
- the tone of the story is set right away. We see characters who are fighting for their rights in controversial times
-relevant issues brought represented in kind of a comedic way

Ch.1
-love that the chapter ended on a cliffhanger
-cute sister relationship
-highlight quote about favorite character

Damn. I need this book to pick up more, phoebe’s life is so sad and it’s making so sad hearing about it

Ch.17
-ugh I hate her brother!!
-at least he came to the realization that they can’t be anything and they haven’t been able to figure it out
-he got his chance to be the savior I guess???

Ch.16
-I don’t even know, let’s start with the fact that he told her he loves her and they’re each others best friends
-also, just when you think they’re about to have their first forward honest conversation it gets messed up
-and like you kinda see her making progress and then goes “can you hit me” GIRL!

Ch.15
-damn, Connell being depressed is awful.
-go back and highlight last bit of the chapter

Ch.14
-when the chapter opened up with Marianne’s new bdsm relationship I was like seriously girly!!!!
-but then, okay she mentions that she’s trying to get away from her family and she realizes she’s not better than everyone else. She immediately leaves the guys apartment and dumps him. So like I kinda want to root for her 😭 like finally I can work with something

This book is giving Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus by Taylor Swift

Marianne’s family and those she surrounds herself with have made her feel like she’s weird and worthless, and incapable of being loved. I feel like Connell wants to fix that sometimes or like he’s drawn to this. And it’s just not healthy for either of them 😭

Ch.13 Jamie is awful and abusive and she continues to be with him
-also wtf they’re both cheating on their partners 🙄
-Hellen was a bit annoying with the Marianne comments even though she said she didn’t have a problem with their past. Girl your insecurities are coming out
-the chapter touched on their class differences
-she finally opened up to him about her family
