This is so confusing! The first book was so vague about what was going on even though I had a a guess at least, to some of what was going on but now I am thoroughly confused! I think that the author wants us to be as confused as the MFC which I can appreciate, it's a mystery but there are still some things that MFC knows that the author hasn't elaborated on yet and I am getting annoyed. Like I skipped many chapters.

So far so good but no matter how this goes, it will get an extra star, just for bringing in a fictional stand in character for Trump, when fmc really tells her "man" friend off for his vote during an airport scene where they all meet up 20 years later & she remarks on his FB posts & how he's changed. Haha! Sounds familiar. I think I love this female character already & I am only an hour into this book. 😅

I really liked The Shadow and Bone Trilogy but I just can't seem to get into this. I will come back to this one at a later time and maybe give it another try.

I really liked Shadow and bone so why can't I get into this? It feels so very different and I'm bored. I am about 1 hour in. Does it get any better or is this book an all business and no adventure kind of book? A lot of characters introduced all at once isn't helping either. I can't seem to comprehend what's even going on so far...

I don't even need to read this. I already know he is fucking insane!

I have no oppinions or thoughts on this book so far. I haven't even started it yet but I just wanted to say Fuck Trump! 🖕

Ugh! How does this book have such high ratings? I have been stuck on this dang book for almost 2 weeks! Not only is it boring but the jumping back and forth, from this year and that year, so many timeliness with too many characters. That usually doesn't bother me but there is just something about the way the pieces of this story transition together that is annoying and confusing 😐

While this series is definitely not anything exceptional when comparing writers who only write fantasy. The world building is definitely lacking, the characters and plot are a little bland but I must say, it's not at all hard to be impressed with Nora as a writer who can easily pick any topic or genre and turn it into a pretty decent book that has no problems holding my interest.

30 mins in (audio version) and I had to go back to the beginning and start over as I just couldn't follow what was going on (and the annoying shuffling of paper - sound effects?. So far this book is starting out very hard to follow. Please tell me it gets better...lol
