Soooo... I understand how some people are loving this book. And I swear im not trying to be a hater but... this book is not living up to the hype for me personally. Its not bad however i just feel my bar for a outstanding dark sci-fi fantasy might just have a different criteria

The world-building takes me out sometimes. I have so many questions. If her sisters in school did she go to school. How are alpha's, Beta's and omega's produced? How do these genetics work? Politics is also super confusing cause it seems like this shifter population is incredibly small.Yes they live very long but very small. How are all non shifters essentially slaves. The Sociopolitical aspects are so confusing

Everytime one of these characters say they aren't attracted to another character; then go on a tangent describing thier attraction. I'm just like "are you sure about that" (specifically tim Robinson meme)

I would not recommend listening to the audiobook. Unfortunately the male narrator is not doing it for me. He breaths too audibly- it takes you out. Thier no inflection to discern whether he's speaking or thinking. The breaks between sentences that should be more connected. Beyond that I feel like so many of Bastians chapters are a bit info dumpy and I don't feel all that connected to his character while in his pov
