2018 Geisel Award Honor Book

So far it's a fun mash-up of Victorian era literary characters (and monsters). I'd call it "Penny Dreadful - Disney version". It's reading a bit young, too. I'm surprised it wasn't listed as YA. Still, I'll take any opportunity to put Benedict Cumberbatch's face on a Sherlock Holmes character. 💕

I haven't been so riveted by a book in a very long time.

Slow story and ho-hum cliched characters are making this book a drudgery to read. Hopefully it gets better.

My fave thing about Blake's writing is her descriptions. "Girl" has the same insanely creative and memorable descriptions as "Anna". Love it!

So far this book is excellent! Reminds me of The Historian. Smart with an enthralling world.

While Terry Brook's "Measure of the Magic" was the-book-that-never-ends, "The Son of Neptune" is the-book-I-can't-seem-to-get-to. Loving it so far, but it's killing my Reading challenge for the year!

Only 20 pages left and I haven't got the next book from Borders.com yet!!! AAAAAAHHHH!!! I want to finish it, but I feel naked without the next one.

This is one of those throw away yet enjoyable books that makes me think I could definitely write my own book.
