Beautifully written! Although the story begins with Anastasia finding her husband in bed with another woman, and she herself finding she is with child, this is a beautiful story of friendship, family and falling in love again.
Her friends are supportive and wonderful, and Alex, oh my, well, Alex! I can see him and feel his love for Ana, and am excited as to where this story goes. Love the Greek history and recipes!

Again, I am thoroughly enjoying this book, but it is such a difficult read as each character is a representation of too many lives out here and there. It feels like this book can be made into an after school special that runs the entire school year ... some happy beginnings and endings with the middle being sad, and any combination of this.
A must read for, well, everyone, really.

Although, a difficult read because the characters in the story represent true-to-life people and situations, I am thoroughly enjoying the read as it is very well written and developed. I feel a connection to the female characters in the story and feel sad, especially for Star, because she has so much potential.

I hope you will join me in reading it so that we can discuss this book together and its profound messages.

The title ... how very clever!

"How do I look?"

"You look like you're ready to trap your prey."

'... forget the birds in the bush, drop that damn bird in your hand and run, man, run.' Haha!
Kem has obviously not learned to keep, 'Kem Jr.' under control, even with what a certain woman has done to him just pages before! This book opens with him getting drunk in a bar, and being seduced (very easily) by another beautiful woman.
We are introduced to new characters and I will share more about them as the story

Very captivating read!
This story follows Latif, a young boy who moved with his father to Tehran in search of work to enable them to care for their family.
Latif dissociates from the homelessness and hunger he is faced with each day by creating a world in which he has a camel friend, who chews bubble gum and talks to him. Nightly he visits the toy store where the toys come alive with great description of their fun

Wow! What a powerful story?! We are introduced to Melissa who was a former street kid who now lends a hand in helping others. It begins with her helping Veronica, by making a simple call home. The call is so powerful, and I truly believe would be the response of any family, but fear and assumptions keep troubled youth from calling home. We meet, Kate. She comes from a good home and didn't receive all of the financial

I don't understand why this book doesn't have any reviews. Yes, I have only read 3 chapters, but what a great start. I especially enjoyed chapter 1 and Raven's memories of her father, and the fact that she is carrying on his work. He was brilliant, as is she.
She has an interesting group of friends. I think Abby might be a hypochondriac because she thinks she has SARS!
It has some dry humour, which I love!

I love these short stories that complete this 'shortish' book and will be sure to write a full review shortly!
Worth reading. I am sure most will read it many times as it has very useful information, which is written in the most unique way. I don't think there's another like it!

Okay, so definitely not what I was expecting!
When I read the first 40 pages I was reminded of, 'A Brave New World' but it's more like Tomakin meets Harry Potter!

I will write a full review shortly ... great read for sure!

Okay, so I received this book yesterday and told the author I wouldn't be able to start and finish it until Sunday. I decided to read the first few pages to get a 'feel' for it ... 41 pages later and I am drawn in/hooked. Aside from poetry and inspiration, books like, 1984, A Brave New World, etc, are books I enjoy reading. This book is much like, A Brave New World and well worth putting aside obligations for!

I cannot say how much I enjoyed this book, yet! I have read it twice already and will give a complete review shortly.
It is a series of short stories where children are having to go to an analyst to get rid of the various 'monsters' that they either have generated themselves, or that have latched onto the child due to trauma they faced.
It is so very creative and I am so happy it will be available for both Spanish

A nice first chapter to introduce us to Carly, Amelia, and Avarel, and also to Carly's Auntie Belle who is really moved by the girls' singing & playing at the piano. Her back story is very sad, so it was special reading about the smile she had upon first hearing the girls sing, and then again when she heard them in church. I also think it's special that the girls share the same birthday month, and their day is just a

'Rain Dance

There is a salty taste
In the sea breeze
As raindrops kiss the land
Mixed with
The scent of earthen freshness
As the waves touch the sand
Wouldn't it be fun
To dance in nature's shower?
On the beach
Before the waves
At the twilight hour?...

I simply can't get enough of this author's writing-it is so very beautiful! The way in which this particular book us written is exceptionally unique. The title has great meaning and we find out how, who, what, where, when and why on page 25 and beyond!
Not only do the poems paint a beautiful story, but so do the poetic paragraphs written to introduce each of the poems.
It is so very beautiful! Have I written that?

Just finished 'Verse One' and as well as the Bridge. I am sure all of the characters have been introduced at this point and will now start to get into what the back blurb tells.
Great background information on each of the characters, including their upbringing, where they live, their careers, materialism, intellectualism, and/or spiritualism, and a continued vivid description on Harlem and the surrounding areas.

Wow! What a stunning book of love poems! It contains just 20 poems, 6 of which are bonus material, so a quick read, but a book you want to read carefully, and over and again because of the beauty it contains!
I thought of, Pablo Neruda while reading her work, and her work warmed my heart as much as his does!

A perfect gift for Valentine's Day and any day to gift your loved one!

To this point, we are learning a lot about Diamond, her friends & family. She lives with her Grandma, who expects a lot from her and is quite strict, but also understands that Diamond is a young woman in College and she does allow her to have fun with her friends. Both her mother and sister were unwed, young mothers and so naturally she expects more from Diamond. Still in character development, but from the blurb it

The description of Harlem and the character development are excellent within this story.I had so much fun while reading how the 4 were in the Lenox Lounge listening to a live jazz band. The way the author described the scene is relatable to anyone who has gone to a similar place, ordering food & drinks, familiar faces, and an all around lively scene.
Once over, we are again filled with wonderful description of Harlem

I am drawn in by the setting, which is Harlem, New York, in 2000, and as well the way the characters are introduced. We meet Diamond, her boyfriend, Stone, her sister, Jewel and her boyfriend, Jazz. They are driving down 125th Street and arrive at Lenox Lounge. Along the way Diamond is in awe of how Harlem is developing and as she puts it, 'Uptown gave us a new sense of hope that Harlem would again reclaim her glory.'
