Again, I am thoroughly enjoying this book, but it is such a difficult read as each character is a representation of too many lives out here and there. It feels like this book can be made into an after school special that runs the entire school year ... some happy beginnings and endings with the middle being sad, and any combination of this.
A must read for, well, everyone, really.

Although, a difficult read because the characters in the story represent true-to-life people and situations, I am thoroughly enjoying the read as it is very well written and developed. I feel a connection to the female characters in the story and feel sad, especially for Star, because she has so much potential.
I hope you will join me in reading it so that we can discuss this book together and its profound messages.

The call is so powerful, and I truly believe would be the response of any family, but fear and assumptions keep troubled youth from calling home. We meet, Kate. She comes from a good home and didn't receive all of the financial
