I finished Hannah’s story and now I flipped it over to Toby’s side and my heart is breaking again

Word for word, chapter for chapter, Hannah’s side is identical to what is in Games Untold. It’s been a year since I read it so I didn’t remember and it felt like I was reading it for the first time. Which was good, and I am reminded of what happened. But also now I am on page 6 again because the pages reset

The anticipation!!! The time limit makes the suspense really good in this book because she literally has to solve it before she dies.

AHHHHH!!! I can’t wait to read it tomorrow! Billy is literally so sweet I want to cry and I’m so mad she is going to die 😭😭😭😭.

(Btw for clarification, this book takes place beginning on October 31 2025 and ends on November 7, so I am limiting myself to a couple chapters a day and I am reading it WHEN it actually happens. It’s so fun!!!)

Tahereh Mafi is by far my favorite writer out of every single one I have read in my entire life. Her torturous, beautiful, painful, writing is so stunning all I want to do is read her sentences over and over again and do nothing more with my life.

waiiit so is Ivy one of the twins in the very beginning at Aurelia's party? and is Sofia the one trailing after her dazedly because she is a reanimated necrothrall from Morrough??

also just wanna say that Aurelia, Mandl, and Morrough are all absolutely the most PERFECT names for those characters and their personalities!!!!

Poor freaking Lila. I love her so much and feel so bad for her right now.

Also I still think of her as a fiery ginger lol, like icy pale blond hair always in a braid crown makes me think Hel from ember in the ashes and its not very Lila-y in my mind. (But also Helena is nicknamed Hel by Luc and they mention Shrikes once and there's a character named Enid referenced occasionally. That stuff throws me off.)

Pacing could be better but I'm attached to the characters now since it diverges a lot from manacled

I mean i guess there's a ton more world building and explanation necessary than in manacled but still

This would definitely be a bit confusing if I hadn't read Manacled, and I'm translating the characters to their original counterparts. Luc to Harry, Grace to Hannah, just so I understand who they are and their backstories. I was also confused by all the alchemy terms but I somewhat get them now. At least I understand vivimancy, necromancy, necrothralls, and transmutation, but not tranference, liches, or animancy

I really love the way we basically get Lenny and Blair's love story from Death's unseen watching pov. She is actually kind of funny with what she finds interesting, and also definitely overuses parentheses.

Update: WILD REVERENCE WAS THIRTY TWO DOLLARS!!!!!! THIRTY FOUR with tax. So in total (WITH A $5 DOLLAR DISCOUNT) I spent FOURTY SEVEN DOLLARS!!!!!!

Ok so I reeeeeeally hate that Pip is like taking pills/drugs. I get that it is for sleeping but it's an addiction and like panic attacks make sense but I hate the pills 😭

Also Ant is so stupid and freaking mean and Lauren who used to be her best friend suddenly hates her? I hate THAT. I just feel like screaming at the characters right now
