A slow start but Chapter 18 recalls the creepiness from earlier in the book. A feeling of something following and coming right up behind you when you are preoccupied.

Polyphemus (the story) has a nice mix of Vance sci-fi and Lovecraftian weirdness. Shea has just a touch of gross out horror in his detached approach. All things I remember making his story Fat Face stand out in The Book of Cthulhu.
