The writing is beautiful. It completely sucks you in but I’m tired of Kei and Hana having the same conversation over and over again. She says to leave he refuses and they keep going back-and-forth.

It’s been three pages and holy shit Hazel is such a bitch. Like, she’s mad at her husband for getting her pregnant (it’s a two way thing??), she’s mad that he’s looking up articles to be a good dad (girl what), and she’s mad that he wants to go to therapy 😭 I’m so over her nonsense bruh, actually might just drop the book

One: I hate the writing style. Two: it’s giving… I don’t even know how to describe Hazel. She’s giving oh yeah fuck the patriarchy I’m a girlboss who is naturally skinny in a shallow way. Like, there’s not a lot of depth to it. You don’t have to be particularly smart to get the gist of the book.

It’s so good so far, and I love how the writing style feels strangely modern even though it was written in the 50s. A lot of old books tend to fluff up their language in a pretentious way, so I absolutely love the change from the norm

After the first 75 pages, the story loses its life. Almost as if these sections were written at wildly different times

This book is just kinda cringe. Like, it’s written in the style of a YA with adult themes. I don’t know how to describe it. It feels uncomfortable with the tone not matching the words, or perhaps the other way around

I really don’t like the writing style. Like, the story concept it cool but the writing is very amateur. You can tell that this is a new writer, so it takes me out a little bit. I mean, the concept is what I enjoy but the actual writing style and choices are very average
