Ok Dan sorry to interrupt the lesson on cloud names but can we get to the point?

Protagonist chapters are suffering as an extension of the episodic tour of different worlds meanwhile the Pax chapters are giving me the politics, intrigue, and horrifying developments I wanted from the whole book

BUUUT it looks like it’s going to pick up and veer away from the annoying episodic structure in parts 2 and 3 finally

I can’t believe there’s Nazi Catholics in space in this book

It’s good but man it’s making me miss the tightly structured and meticulously intricate plotting of the first duology

The president of the United States goes to read a story book to children at a school in September of 2001.
9 months previously after his inauguration he was told about the constitutional state secret policy of rounding up and imprisoning psychics in vats to analyse their visions - they all say the same thing - something bad will happen in September.

Story 8: Errata
Jeff Vandermeer, drunk, divorcee, and failed writer is paid to travel to Siberia and write a short story that is just errata from a Sci Fi story magazine. He is given two revolvers and told a man named “Gradus” will come to murder him at some point, and that the universe depends on this story. LOVED IT

Upsetting and deranged for the sake of being upsetting and deranged is harmed by the fact that I already read apparitions and the sparrow this year and they were just as triggering but SO cathartic

Deeply upsetting but also I can’t put it down
