Friendship is a two-way relationship of joy, comfort, and openness, that appears, as distinct from a one-way relationship, such as in that of King, the subject or parent to child.

In Jesus Christ, we are given a friend who will always enjoy rather than refuse our presence.

What does it mean that Chris is a friend of sinners? At the very least, it means that he enjoy spending time with them. It also means that they feel welcomed and comfortable around him.

It is not his disciples, but his antagonist who most clearly perceive who Christ is. Though the crowds call him the friend of sinners as an indictment, the label is one of unspeakable comfort for those who know themselves to be sinners. That Jesus is friend to sinners is only contemptible to those who feel themselves not to be in that category.

Jesus quotes, his accusers as contemptibly calling him “ a friend of tax collectors and sinners!” (that is, a friend of the most despicable kinds of sinners known, and that culture). And as is often the case in the gospels — such as when the demons say, “ I know who you are –– the holy one of God” (Mk 1:24), or when Satan himself acknowledge his Christ to be, the son of God.

Falling emotions, not only symphony, over react; they also simply Under react.

With our own kids, what is our job?

It is to make the tinder heart of Christ, irresistible and unforgettable to our children.

Our goal is that our kids would leave the house at Eighteen, and unable to live the rest of their lives, believing that there’s sense and sufferings repel Christ.

It is a heart of perfect balance, and proportion, never overreacting, never excusing, never washing out. It is a heart that throws with desire for the destitute. It is a heart that floods the suffering with the deep solus of shared solidarity, and that suffering. It is a heart that is gentle and lowly.

Let Jesus draw you in through the loveliness of his heart. This is a heart that upgrades, the impotent with all the harshness that is appropriate, yeah embraces the penitent, with more openness than we are able to feel. It is a heart that walks us into the bridge. Meadow of the felt love of God. It is a heart that drew the despised in forsaken to his feet and self-abandoning Hope.

What most deeply attracted us to Christ is his gentle, tinder, humble heart.

Seeing Godish greatness is not our deepest need, but seeing his goodness!

Throughout Jonathan Edwards, ministry, he sought to Woo people with the beauty of Christ.

Everything that is a lovely, and God is in Christ, and everything that is or can be lovely. In any man is in him: for he is man, as well as God, and he is the West, meus, most humble, and every way, the most excellent man that ever was.

Do not minimize your sing, or excuse it away. Raise no defense. Simply take it to the one who is already at the right hand of the father, advocating for you on the bases of his own wounds. Let your own and righteousness, and all your darkness, and a spare, drive, you to Jesus, the righteous, and all his brightness and sufficiency.

God cannot bear to leave us alone to defend for ourselves.

The new testaments message of grace is not morally, indifferent. The gospel calls us to leave soon. John explain says that he wrote his letter, so that his readers, may not send! And if that was the soul message of the letter, that would be a valid and appropriate summons. But it would crush us. We need not only exhortation but liberation.

One way to think of Christ’s intercession, then, is simply this: Jesus is praying for you right now.

Our prayer life stinks most of the time. But what if you heard Jesus praying aloud For you in the next room? Few things would calm us more deeply.

What is intercession?
In general terms it means that a third party comes between two others and makes a case to one on behalf of the other.

What then does it mean for Christ to intercede?

Christ’s present heavenly intercession on our behalf is a reflection of the fullness and victory and completeness of his earthly work.

Intercession is the moment-by-moment application of the atoning work of Christ.

Justification is tied to what Christ did in the past. Intercession is what Jesus is doing in the present.

Jesus still disciplines us. The Bible clearly teaches that our sins draw for the discipline of Christ, read Hebrews. He would not truly love us if that were not true.

There is nothing uncontrolled or disproportionate in God.

The reason we feel as if divine wrath can easily be overstated is that we do not feel the true weight of sin.

In the biblical gospel, we are not given a thing of grace; we are given a person of grace.

His death and resurrection make it just for Christ never to cast out his own, no matter how often they fall. But animating this work of Christ is the heart of Christ. He cannot bear to part with his own, even when they most deserve to be forsaken.

Have you considered what is true of you if you are in Christ? In order for you to fall short of loving embrace into the heart of Christ, both now and into eternity, Christ himself would have to be pulled down out of heaven and put back in the grave.

How can he never cast us away?

The answer is, Jesus’s heart. The anointing work of the sun, decreed by the father, and applied by the spirit, ensures that we are safe eternally!
