it is nice to read something and realise you see what you see and you are not crazy, even if it means that material conditions have not changed for your people in the past, the now, and most likely the future

one of the biggest criticisms i hear about this book is how fast everything changes, whoch often confuses me because a) it is definitely addressed in the book (for example, when the tourists come and visit the centre of Gilead, Offred literally comments on how she used to dress like them and its crazy how fast she negatively views “immodesty” & b) ….. look at the world we are in lowk idk
