This is one of those books thats just really hard to find but by chance I saw only one copy on amazon for $15. Its a really interesting mermaid origin, shes adopted but is now learning about her birthplace, really cool setup,

Its just a shame that rare books like this arent available digitally. Even if its unpopular I believe it should be accessible, because 1 copy every 6 months or less just makes me so sad.

god is tarzan 33 now? I know he will act the same but dang, a 10 year jump is a lot for a character whose only strength is his physicality. Remember Batman Beyond? This is a different guy. Calder is so much more, sexual? I guess. Before he had a lot going on with his sister's and his mermaidness but now all he has is lily which makes him 100% love interest and thats it unfortunately. Thats why I liked his perspective so much, his crazy mermaid lifestyle of homelessness and lake vagrancy was funny. Lily is the same, just as boring. Poor guy, i liked him before better 💔

pfft the last book was Calder and this book its Lily's perspective. She's just so basic this is going to be more boring. I really enjoyed a guy's perspective AND he was the mer of the two which i enjoyed, but this time its just cant see her adding anything. I wish it was at least dual. I miss Calder.

I am enjoying this book. You can tell it was very edited down becuase things happen very quickly, nothing lingers too long and we get a good sense of the town and the characters pretty quickly. Its cool how they migrate every season but Calder is the black sheep and wants to stays down in the Bahamas. I like that, hes a warm climate guy thats rare up north. Even being from VA i feel like a Floridan in NY. Its cold

The People seem so great, they're just people and kind to each other. I like how the white Australians are called Happy Folk, its kinda funny. I know nothing about aborigine culture, for me I think this as folklore coming alive. Honestly this setting is really amazing, I'm having a good time

I found this in the bookstore in Airlie Beach, I was just visiting and didnt intend on buying a book but this one stood out to me. I had no clue it was from the 80s it that it was the 2nd in a series.

So far its pretty good, I like the perspective its told in, it give it a prose feel like beowolf or the odyessy or something. Its a book about a journey and I like that.

Something completely unique and I like it a lot

This chapter was so dramatic and ominous that this ending line feels like a threat. I love it.

With stories of rape or abuse here I like the revenge narrative, I just hate it with Lucy because she is not a survivor, its fake. But this part, its just getting good. I like.

Finally its getting kind of good. It took too long to get here but now that things are happening I might be able to forgive it.

Lucy has this longgg monologue how she hates her boyfriend, how her friend didnt care about her, how to world hates her but no?? Doing nothing in that first situation was literally the worst thing she could've done.

I know theyre setting up the 'female rage' and wanting revenge but its just not that. All I see is a girl who got screwed over and humiliated, but still has her boyfriend

Also the poor boyfriend Ben. It was all solved her accidently leaked nudes, he genuinely apologized, they were back together, everything is good. Then suddenly shes strangling you one morning and runs away? No apology text, nothing right then no brief "sorry" before scampering off? THATS SO SUSPICIOUS. poor dude like youre just having ur gf over and shes tryna choke u out. Then she runs away 12hrs with no text?So sad

Its not good literally nothing has happened. This girl feels like such an author insert; shaved head, true crime loving wannabe journalist? Its so disconcerting and her monologue is so immature and unbearable.

The sister is on another level of this authors insert: cool person and the fact that the "modern" day for this book is 7 years ago is so bizarre.
