4.5☆ I'm convinced she can't write a bad book. This book made me feel things that a book hasn't made me feel in so long. I was locked in. Fully hooked. Such a unique plot and the twists had me gagging. Thank god I waited for the second to come out before I read it.

1☆ A generous rating honestly. I committed a cardinal sin and judged a book by its cover. Saw it on Pinterest. Bought it. It fucking suuucks. Do not waste your time. Basic language, typos, grammatical errors, and repetitive. This is AI bullshit to make quick cash on Amazon. They got me I fear 😩😭

5☆ BEAUTIFUL. No notes. Worth every last bit of the hype that it gets. I actually think I should get more, If that’s possible. Morrie is such a beautiful soul. So many parts of this book absolutely shambled me into tears. But I would read it all over again. I will be recommending this book to absolutely everyone moving forward.

so far, I genuinely love this book SO much!

I’m not gonna be updating my progress on this one. But I will be reading one “law “every day until the end of the year. I started it September 1 which is exactly 122 days from January 1!

3.75☆ THE END?! Please, I haven’t cried this hard since Atmosphere by TJR. From the 80-90% mark, it lost me not gonna lie. But 10% doesn’t really count. Meanwhile, I disagree with the codependence, enabling, and toxicity that were prevalent throughout. It isn’t a fiction novel one judges it’s a memoir to experience. It was very well written and I think Patti did a beautiful job depicting love and grief.

2☆ Maybe I have outgrown books like this, or I need to give myself some distance to grow the heart fonder and all that. But oh my GOD… this was unbearably boring for the first 75%. Audiobook helped me make it to the finish line, but hearing “fuck me murder daddy” was a jump scare. HAHAHA the alleged smut in the modern romance genres is so repetitive at this point it must be AI.

Self-inflicted torture ….. please make it end 😭

DID NOT EXPECT THAT! Going into this blind and reading it for the first time at 27 makes it hard to believe this is a Y.A. novel. The fact that this is a collection of letters that cover only ONE year of this very mentally ill 14-year-old’s life makes it even harder to wrap my mind around. Am I the only one who didn't get the memo that this is a very dark book? 3☆

Didn’t expect to be going through this as quickly as I am. Literally started it three hours ago.

Extremely ashamed to announce it took me FIVE MONTHS to finish this book. I stopped annotating 120 ish pages before the end because I HAD TO finish. I really enjoyed it but I definitely didn’t appreciate it enough. I will be rereading in the future when I’m in the right headspace. 4☆

With series, I typically buy all the books at once. So glad I didn’t do it this time. This book is so overhyped.

2.25☆ I thought this was a good book to help with my currently uncurable reading slump & had high hopes since this was an anticipated read. I was wrong. It had some cute parts, but overall, it lacked depth and was super cliché. Unfortunately, I could not stand the FMC. She was insufferably insecure. Then again, It comes with the age bracket this book belongs to. Cute, but not worth the hype.

4☆ abby’s books always feel raw and real to be contemporary romances. But this one felt very literary fiction with a sub plot of romance. And I loved it!! I loved Chris until the last 25% and then it all felt a little bit too unrealistic, mushy, and codependent. Regardless. I still really enjoyed the book.

This book was NOT in my 2026 bingo card. I didn’t know what to read next and I walked into B&N with zero plan and this was the book that got my attention Shall I say, I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far.

4☆ could have potentially been a 5 but I was an IDIOT and when I was at 50% I decided to watch the movie and spoil with the whole thing for myself 😭. So rating it was hard because was I shocked and thoroughly enjoyed the movie? Yes. But it made the book boring because the movie was 100% spot on. It was amazing though. So I highly recommend. Kind of felt similar to the alchemist.

I’m gonna get canceled for saying this…. It was boring. HOWEVER the writing was beautiful! I can see why people say it's relevant today, and it did have some really high highs. SO 3☆ I annotated too much to give it less and I was too disengaged to give it more. Maybe my expectations were too high.

5☆ feels rude to the actual masterpiece. that was these 300 pages. I love this book. I love everything about it. She’s a bitch and I love it. I love her dad. I love the story. I love the romance. I love the competitiveness. I love it.

3.5☆ I really enjoyed it. But I think it lacked the nostalgia “first time caller” had that made it such a good book. The prequel, felt genuinely like a 90s Sandra Bullock movie, this one felt more modern. Meanwhile it was cute, it was nothing to ride home about. A feel good, joyful pallet cleanser rather than a memorable unique must read.

5☆ this was such a beautiful beautiful beautiful book. I wish I could get into depth on all the reasons why but I simply cannot. All I can say is if you haven’t read this, add it to your TBR immediately. And please yourself a favor and do not skip the authors note, because even that is incredible.
