While technically I only read 14 pages of this today that included 43!!! Footnotes so it's probably closer to double that. I'm getting house of leaves flashbacks.. but it's good. Preferring this story to the first one, which is a history of the founding of the city and written as an academic article, hence the house of leaves similarities.

I could handle one of the protags being stupid enough to not realise their feelings were reciprocated but BOTH??? I thought my guy was just letting her take her time or something. "You never kissed me back 😢" YOU KISSED HER REGULARLY AND SHE LET YOU. HE KISSED HER REGULARLY AND SHE WAS LIKE im sure that means nothing WHAT THE HELL
Anyway. Yeah it's pretty decent. Probably 4 stars rn

I do hope this starts to lean into the plot more soon, while I started it because I wanted the yearning and the codependancy of the characters I do feel like romance works better when it's moments littered throughout a grander story, it makes the scenes seem special. I've not disliked this so far but I am worried I'm going to get sick of the constant CONSTANT yearning from our girl. She is down bad my godd
