Do you ever surprise yourself by writing something extremely witty? Like, sorry, I'm not that funny in real life.

Part of my WIP:
“Subpremiera Tova is unbreakable; nothing rattles her. She’s gone toe-to-toe with the Board of Premiers without batting an eyelash.”
Correct. I’d never batted my eyelashes at the Board. Blowing a fuse was more my style.

No idea why that made me crack up.

I've never read any of Melanie Cellier's books, so I need to know: Is she a good author? Are they clean? She has so many of them that I have no idea where to start. Any recommendations?

I LOVE this series sooooo much! I made it through book 4 last time, so now I'm going to re-read and continue through. I cannot express how entertaining Emma M. Lion is, or how much I need some humor in my life right now.

The whole beautiful, snarky girl hiding a secret and then infiltrating a royal court while trying not to fall in love with an annoyingly flirtatious guy, when it's really the royals that are evil, is getting to be a bit of an old chestnut.

We're reading this to study allegories (symbolic vehicles that carry a deeper meaning called a tenor). So far, I've analyzed the meanings of the ocean, a parrot, characters in the story, light, and piano music.

I am now debating whether a hammock is just a hammock or represents something else.

Hence, the hazards of AP Literature.

The Awakening is putting me to sleep.

What is the scariest thing you've ever done?

I feel a rant brewing, and I could not be happier. I don't think I've ever done an enormously extensive GR review, and I have THOUGHTS on this story.

A teacher at my school calls this "The Asleepening," and now I can't get it out of my head.

This feels like a late-19th-century island beach-vacation fever dream.

If I had a shilling for every time the word "blood" came up in this story, I would be richer than Paedyn after robbing Kai. Girl really needs some more ideas than just tripping and pretending to be clumsy as a thief.

At first it was going okey dokey artichokey, but then I skimmed ahead a bit, and now it's more like extra horrendous asparagus.

I'm more excited for my thoughts after this book than the story itself.

Will I be a Powerless fan or join the Powerless hate club? (No offense to Lauren Roberts; I'm sure she's a lovely person).

Also, I made a claim that Kai Chan from Nova McBee's Calculated is better than Kai Azer, and I must see if that claim holds under scrutiny.

Any thoughts on how to make a faith parallel in a novel that isn't cringey or cliche?

For context, the FMC grew up in a very atheist, man-centric society, but the MMC teaches her about the Gardener, who created the Earth and everything on it. The FMC is very scientific and logical (with a traumatic background), and I always despise books where they just pick up a religion without a second thought.

It's so strange to me that, as readers, we enjoy having our hearts broken and being emotionally destroyed.

Powerless is next on my TBR, but I'm pretty sure Kai Azer has NOTHING on Kai Chang.

I cannot wait to be emotionally destroyed.
