Your typical college sport romance with hook-up culture.
Surprising to say I liked the tv series a lot better!

I had no idea that this book that I have had on my tbr for forever was the book Off-Campus was adapted from. Loved the series, now finally getting to the book.

This book hit some sore spots. It was devastating. It needed more time to resolve in the end. I'm still sitting here, unwell. Near the end I felt the constant scene setting unfitting to Lili's state of mind. Who notices that stuff when you're falling apart? Anyways, yeah.

Sources and referring to available literature, no matter how limited at the time, would be nice. There's only so many accounts of similarly-described past lives from one person you can read about before getting bored from it.

If you have trust issues, do not read this book. I thought there would be glaringly obvious red flags about this relationship, little signs that Burden missed that would indicate her husband was unhappy and why he left. I didn't see that. She is privileged, yes, but that doesn't discount her as a person who felt violently blindsided by who she thought was a loving, trusting husband. Let's accept the humanity of that.

Looking for a more cheerful follow-up to Yesteryear so this love autopsy of a failed marriage should do the trick.

It's hard to like a book when your main character is Natalie. Unlikeable, unrelatable, indecent. And to know she's based on real people isn't encouraging. I need to sit with this one for a while longer to collect my thoughts. I definitely wasn't bored while reading.

Oops, forgot to log this one.
I hate fakeness. I hate people faking and flaunting. Showing off when they know nothing. This book has that. Nearly done, but if you like a sociopathic main character who sucks, this is your book.

*insert EMOTIONAL DAMAGE* meme
Highly recommend this book if you like your heart tampered with, stomped on, and then eventually patched back together. I loved the intense and psychic relationship between AJ and Noah. Their connection was so strong and built upon, and I begrudgingly admit it was a good thing that it wasn't smooth sailing. 4.5 just because I did struggle in the beginning. But it was worth it.

It was a bit of a struggle to get into this book , and honestly I still am having a hard time fully locking in to the story. But I'm sticking with it since I'm hearing similar experiences and to keep going even if the sci-fi isn't your thing. I am more invested at this point, and I'm loving the tension and build of Noah & AJ's relationship.

This would be a great book to read in my grad program, if it existed then. This covers aging, disability, occupation, purpose, and community. That said, Sybil is not a particularly likeable character. With the letter writing, we see how she distances herself from others. I felt a sort of disassociation from her, the characters, and the actual story because of the narration style. Perfectly fine book, quick read.

A book composed solely of letters, handwritten and emailed and notes. Sybil is a sharp voice who can be a bit of a Karen. Which kind of makes it funny. Also, a little cringey. Flipping back and forth between the pages to make sense of who is who.

What a breezy summer read!
Nope. That was a lie.
I was not expecting this to be as dark as it was. This book dealt with some heavy themes and I'm surprised it didn't have a trigger warning for them. I wasn't impressed with the beginning of this story but the middle and ending were pretty suspenseful. Wasn't sure what was happening. One character can suck it and they know who they are.
A captivating read!

I think I know where this is going, although I also have no idea where this is going. And I'm pissed. I see the signs. I want to throttle one of these characters. Let's see how it all pans out.

A quick read. Short chapters, fast-paced, page-turner. Very twisty if you need a head-scratching thriller, but for me, the amount of twists was a bit much. Some things didn't make sense, and the use of unreliable narrators, one instance in particular, is not believable.

It's a weird time to finish this book.
This wasn't a literary masterpiece, but it provided a rare perspective of a mother who had absolutely no control over who her child was. It was horrible to think about. Lose-lose for all.

I can't believe it but I think I'm going to have to give this 5 stars. This book was so long and so dark and trauma-riddled and full of torture. I thought the relationship would never get anywhere even semi-positive. But the story was gripping. It has the villain who would burn the world for his love, 'who did this to you', all of it. I had no idea how it would end. Dangerously captivating.

I have a weapon in the house. The weapon is this book. It is huge and heavy and daunting. Over 1000 pages?! Even so, I made it to 500. While very long, the story is engaging, and it's not too hard to follow the world building. There is a twist that I did not see coming. This is dark and gorey and the author loves torturing their characters, so this won't be for everyone.
On to the next 500 🫡

This was an adventure from start to finish. I did not expect a book about house hunting to be so twisty and scandalous. I definitely underestimated Margo's crazy. There is background on why Margo is the way she is but it was hard for me to be in her corner with her rude commentary and selfishness. Hard to feel sorry for someone who can drop $1.3 million on a property.

An entertaining and breezy read so far, although I'm not finding the FMC likeable. She's rubbing me the wrong way. Her internal dialogue is so rude! But I'm invested.

Tough topic to read about but curious. Reads very quickly. Brings up a lot of questions as to how people like Noah can be helped in order for children to be safe. Can they truly be changed?
