I am just about done with this book and I must say, it is both inspiring and extremely sad at the same time. Seeing all the men in this book perform some of the most heroic feats ever recorded only to come home shells of themselves struggling to adjust is something that I have been extremely moved by and my respect for anyone who served has gone up even more than thought possible. Audie Murphy is Captain America.

I’m barely half way through this book and I’ve already lost count of the times my blood has run cold and I’m left in awe of the stories of these men who fought through hell and came back. Doing the impossible and gambling with their lives to save others. They may gamble, chase whores, and drink like there is no tomorrow but when duty calls they always step up. It is making me feel very patriotic right now.

So far this book has been great, I knew it would be fantastic once I saw that Audie Murphy’s story was in it but I’m loving the stories of ware and Truscott as well as they battle up the Italian boot. Still as most accurate war stories go, there is plenty of suffering and tragedies that come with it and it’s inspiring to see how these men pushed through impossible odds.

I swear every time I open up this book I have the song Carolus Rex by sabaton blasting in my mind. Sadly the big E himself hasn’t made many appearances but god damn do the banana boys and silent sisterhood kick some serious ass. Arkahn land is a full blown degenerate asshole (of the genius kind) and the name drops that keep happening have me entranced. Can’t wait to finish this one! The Emperor Protects!!!

This book is awesome. We have more crack rats, Arabian slavers, political murders and intrigue, as well as a good old fashioned mission from god to launch a genocidal crusade… god I love Warhammer

Shit has most certainly hit the fan and this lovely little “not french” city is living up to the books title. We have some heartbreaking loss, brutal murders, whacky comedy, and a visit from a literal goddess. This is just so much fun!

So far we have a man getting munched by an ogre, Katerina is being a wild woman and pissing off a lawyer, and Florin and Lorenzo just pulled off a smuggling maneuver that would make Jack Sparrow proud… this is going to be fun

Well I only have one section left in the book and it just so happens to be the largest one. This has certainly been an interesting read so far. Very much lives up to the “dictionary of civilization” but still quite informative.

So we have finished the religious section of the book and I was a little surprised that the romans actually “tactically acquired” most of their gods from other religions. Wasn’t as structured or consistent as the Greeks but perhaps this book just didn’t go into too much detail.

Well some of the military stuff was quite interesting, not as expansive as I first thought. Learning about the gods now and they really did just copy and paste from all other areas for their gods with very few unique to the Romans. Not too shabby

Finished the section regarding some of the most famous peoples of Rome, granted we didn’t go too in depth on them but the general gist is that they’re remembered mostly for social reforms and construction projects for themselves or the people… and lost of assassinations, like a shit ton, GOT got nothing on this god damn

Very much so a dictionary with not too much detail but still little tid bits here and there so this will be a slower read but one I am sure to learn quite a bit from. For the glory of Rome

Well, the gav thorpe section was dope, the start of CZ’s stuff was great, but these last few short stories are getting me. Brother. A dark angel wouldn’t let an entire room of people know about the existence of the fallen and only kill one of them. They bomb the entire city from orbit to make sure no one knows. Still over all great book. Even if CZ made some silly lore mistakes.

Ok, CZ, my guy, your first book was great in the the way the green boys were very retarded, hyper violent, almost unkillable, and damn near infinite. The way the marines kicked ass was amazing but this second book, brother, how in the fuck do you have a 8 ft 1000lb super soldier get over powered and stabbed to death by 4 half starved human cultists, Wtaf. I shall pretend it didn’t happen but still… very gay

Well it has been quite some time since the last update. I finished the Gav Thorpe section of the book where we witnessed the (totally loyal) dark angels curb stomp a bunch of peasants and everyone’s favorite skin coat wearing serial killers the night lords, then the space elves showed up with their icky magic and then blew shit up. Now it’s onto CZ Dunn as our boys fight the Orks aka Drunk cockney Brits, hellyeah

Well, they are actually facing consequences for making poor decisions so that is quite fun to see. There is still quite a lot of jumping around and causally passing over key parts of the story that could have helped flesh out the book and the characters but for what this book is, it’s still quite fun. Into the Galleons Graveyard we go!
