Amanda is starting The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne (The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne, #1)
I read this till almost 3 in the morning and almost finished it until I realized the time...

Today I'm paying for it, but I don't care. It's that fantastic.

Amanda is starting Airman
I'm wondering if this author has ever talked to anyone who's had a baby? This has to be a satire? With lines like: "Catherine struggled to deliver her child. Her leg shot out involuntarily as the pain hit." and "Catherine gave herself not a minute to recover from her brief labor. (Ed. Note: They're not kidding; only 12 paragraphs have passed.) She leaned forward and grasped her husband's lapel."

What is this?!

Amanda is starting The Joy of Leadership: How Positive Psychology Can Maximize Your Impact (and Make You Happier) in a Challenging World
I have heard the word "synthesize" more in this book (I'm listening to it on Hoopla) than in the entirety of my whole life. The authors could have possibly found a different word for "synthesize" yet when you have such a dynamic word as "synthesize" why change it? Why "synthesize" the process? Do you see what I mean? If you overhear a word, it makes one feel a little twitchy towards it. "Synthesize."

Amanda is finished with Overdue: A Dewey Decimal System of Grace
I’m enjoying how each chapter is focused under a different Dewey heading; some chapters work better with this system.

"This book affirmed within me the value of bucking against that instinct, in stepping into our fears. It's where the greatest truths come from--the understanding of what matters and what doesn't, the ability to let go of the things that too often hold us down, the acceptance of ourselves and a belief in our own promise."

I’m struggling reading it/finishing it, not because it isn’t good, but because I keep sneaking off to read other books. I’m cheating on this one. I’m a book cheat! I’m a triple-timer. Good heavens.

Amanda is starting Danger Ahead (Friday Barnes, #6)
Oh, nuts. Something felt a bit off when I picked this up and jumped in, but I didn't realize until I was halfway through that I was a book ahead in series order. Somehow I had skipped book #5. Double nuts. I'll keep on reading and come back to #5 after this is over. I really hate when that happens though.

I've been reading highly cheerful stuff that would be sure to cause a fight at a party, I'm sure. The part about Boomers alone would make some people raise voices if not fists. Oh my. The history alone has been fascinating if not disturbing.

Quotes that grabbed me from Chapter 6:
“This is why the best visions offer us something that, for all practical purposes, we will never actually reach, but for which we would gladly die trying.” (Page 92)
“My favorite definition of love is giving someone the power to destroy us and trusting they won’t use it.” (Page 105)
I’m not sure I agree with these, but they made me stop and think for a bit.

I wish that I could have found this in an audiobook version actually. Reading right now is a bit tricky. Thank goodness his writing is so compelling. I like his accent (color me for an American), and I wanted him to read to me.

Reading it as an e-book is making it more of a challenge, but the first two chapters have been excellent.

Amanda is starting The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games, #0)
I'm about halfway through; Dr. Gaul's manipulations of Coryo are making me sick. Against her murderous madness, what can he do? He doesn't have power, riches, or morals really. He only has a burning desire to survive and come out on top (his slight sense of good vs. evil seems quite malleable as long as he personally isn't affected.) Plus I feel like he is being played by Lucy. Games w/in games. It all ends badly.

I'm only a quarter of the way through and feel like I know the WHOLE plot...*sigh* Currently calling who the bad guy is, and that Cinder is in lurve with the Faun (blech because romance is gross when you are 6 like I am right now in my head...it's been that sort of day).

Oh my, things are NOT going well. I seriously need things to go well for Sam and for Riddle, and I have so many feels for them, and most of them right now are a tangle of love and fear (but mostly fearfearfear).

If this is another BOB book where everything ends VERY BADLY, I just don't know what I shall do right now. I may not be able to cope.

Lots of people have been killed. LOTS. Rilly. LOTS!!! I am kind of reading this between my fingers at this point and wondering what I have gotten myself into? Should I keep reading? Between the drinking, the language, the rutting (yep, just wrote that), the extreme violence, .... well, wow. Just wow.

And yet, Sisters. If someone threatened MY sister?! Wouldn't I try to move heaven & earth to protect her?

Ugggghhhhh...I'm only on Chapter 5, and I feel like I know how everything is going to end. I do not like ANY of the characters, so reading this is vexing (especially after reading 2 TERRIFIC, BRILLIANT books: One for the Murphys and Paper Things). I'm loathing the characters while I read them--especially the American ones--they all seem like caricatures. Blech blah and double yuck.

I'm stuck. I'm stalled. I'm scared...because I'm at that point where I sense that something REALLY BAD is about to happen to the characters and I'm afraid to read on and have it happen. Do y'all ever have that when you are reading?

Ugggghhh....this is dragging for me right now and I just want to smack certain characters. Why do they think that they don't have to follow the rules? WHO are THEY that they haven't realized this BY NOW? I'm SO TIRED of this whiny, disobedient, can't-get-your-stuff-together character!
