i had the absolute privilege of getting a signed copy by morris so i knew i had to read it (nepo privileges of volunteering with the press the story was published under). the story is absolutely fascinating so far and honestly it’s really hard to put down! loving it.

i keep getting confused not gonna lie. but i guess that’s not bad 🤷‍♀️

great listening to it, especially with jeanette narrating. it’s really intriguing to see her (toxic, i would argue) relationship with herself and her mother, and how that got her to where she is today.

it reminds me of “the hot zone” i really like it and the personal stories

i wasn’t too big a fan at first but it’s growing on me tbh

i’m trying to enjoy this as a medusa story a la miller’s circe, but i’m already over 25% through and it feels like i have to force myself to read this. it’s not a medusa story and it feels more historical than actual storytelling. i’ll try to continue and see if it picks up in the second half but it has an extremely lethargic start.

Really loving Reid right now! For me, her words (and especially her descriptions) are readable while also being evocative. I don't know whether "Juniper and Thorn" came before my current read, "A Study in Drowning", but the two of them feel very similar in format.

had to read most of it for school. might finish it next summer if the vibes are right, we'll see. shelved for now.
