I'm reading the preface... so far so good.

I realized that I may have read or attempted to read this book before.
Kurt throws in so many characters that I end up not caring about any of them. So I am giving this one back to the AWESOME TABLE. Alas.

The first chapter reeks of old fashioned sexism. This guide to the moon and her phases may be very dated in 2026, written 2 years before my birth here on Earth 1967. Thank goodness modern astrology has advanced in it's perceptions.

On the next page it basically describes "pizza gate" & the billionaire class that are pedophiles, easily staying out of jail because of their riches. Well connected and able to divert attention to the "enemy" who isn't a RAPIST like #47 at all but the RABID FAN CLUB is ready for a fight.

Omg! The sicko presidential candidate in this book #2 uses the slogan "Help us to make America great again". I almost died when i read that because i can totally see Drumpf pulling the same sicko shit!!!
As usual Octavia is seeing into the future, written in 1998 she saw the writing on the wall...and it ain't pretty.

I like the main character...I feel a kinship to this Polish woman. She cares about creatures & loves astrology.

I'm reading this during Trump's re-election bid. Hrothgar is Trump in my mind. Grendel is the average American paying for our billionaire's bad habits through blood, sweat & tears. The mute mother represents women in America who have no control over their own bodies...let's see how this plays out...

This book reminds me of his other book "Wishing and Hoping". It's not as good as his other books I have read.

I graduated high school in 87.
A lot of the pictures in this book is of fans from that time period. (Which piqued my curiosity.)
I was intrigued by the Grateful dead at that time because week after week Rolling stone magazine said it was always the top grossing concert.
I was a live music fan when I was in high school (and a fan of certain drugs) but I tended to have a preference for bands like THE CURE.

Flea's experience with sunday school mirrored my lone experience. A neighbor decided to take us to Sunday school and the kids there were horrible!
"Fuck church" indeed! I never went back and neither did he.

I would have appreciated some info about why the "radical feminists" were transphobic. What were their arguments against trans people? I consider myself a feminist and have no problem with transitioning or passing. As a feminist I believe IN CHOICE when it comes to personal decisions about our bodies. I personally see the opposition as the religious right but without an explanation from Juliet I'm left wondering.

Well the protagonist was born in 1969... that's a good start!!!

I think this may be my favorite genre of writing.

I took me years to acknowledge that, but I've known it all along!!
