Definitely intriguing

Okay yeah this is probably the best fantasy book I’ve ever picked up

A little confusing, but I find all fantasy books are confusing when you first start reading. Had to draw a family tree to keep track of who’s who.

So much sapphic yearning and Catholics guilt. I know this book is going to destroy me.

Stupid fuck ass book

American nationalism has entered the chat:

“You and what army?” Stratt asked. Five armed men in military fatigues entered the courtroom and took up station around her. “Because I have the U.S. Army,” she said. “And that’s a damn fine army.” (194). The character who said that is Dutch. Only Americans would call their army a “damn fine army”. This quote feels like I got it from a Wattpad fanfic.

“No one ever talks about the really hard parts of first contact with intelligent alien life: pronouns”(Weir, 172). Aaaaaaaand there it is. Pronoun jokes AND weirdly sexual references about the characters ass and penetration? Such loser behaviour!

So far so good! The only thing I find a bit strange is how often the main character talks about his butt, because most of the time it doesn’t provide any clarity or support the plot. Also, the manner at which it’s described is strangely erotic? Kind of? It’s giving internalized homophobia. I gotta percolate on that thought a little longer.

Oh this is kinda fun!

Not a huge sci fi gal, but consider my interest piqued.

Decided to read this at work and immediately regretted it. Currently dry heaving from having to hold in tears. Fuck you Purdue Pharma! And fuck the American government for refusing to care about anyone but themselves.

Oh my god

Absolutely loving this book. At times it can be a little difficult to read given the author uses terms and phrases that are common in the American South (it’s a little tricky for those unfamiliar with Southern dialects), but I have a feeling I’m going to end up rating this book 4-5 stars.
