the one sided competition over caviar was so real. I feel like I relate to Elly’s character, not in the sense that she is really smart (like i cant get As in physics), but in the sense that she evades anything that doesn’t appeal to her in a savy way. well idk. I like her character though

Lots of similes I noticed, which makes sense since Sylvia Plath writes poetry— but I find this usage quite enchanting, since I like visualising things in comparative ways — there was one point she described Doreen as a white Macaw, everyone anticipating for her to say something ‘human’, which really made me think of her as someone ethereal. The beginning is rather funny, but i sense darkness creeping in bruh

The main takeaway from this book so far is the varying methodologies behind interpreting abstract art. The most interesting method I found was Osbourne’s third view, where abstract art is a reflection of modern times in a growing capitalist world; the notion of alienation manifests in the fundamental forms that we see in this type of art, attempting to understand our deviation from the established aesthetic norms

wholesome and uplifting

i feel like, as the stories progress, the emotional/moral content becomes more detailed. The third story tugged on my heart strings, and it was written quite nicely actually.

Second story was my favourite, the guys story about wanting to own a shop is so me. The cat bookshop was so comforting, and the lil sea glass accessories the gf made so cutee

New guy’s story about the antique shop is pretty cute, reminds me of whisper of the heart by studio ghibli
