FYI this is so good. Read this, especially if you’ve never read any Ursula before. This is a very good introduction to her powers because she’s more or less just showing off.

This has devolved into garbage. I’m not kidding. She’s drawing conclusions that erase even the general idea, the dream of intersectionality.

Shockingly disorganized and listless. Some good points were made about Nabakov, but those observations seem lazily applied to the wider question—which is barely answered anyway.

Oh my god. This is dumb! I can’t quote it directly but I wish I could! Drawing a comparison from Wagner (part of the historically educated class) and modern Trump voters who—and I’m paraphrasing—‘sit in the middle and therefor have nothing to teach me’, as proof that they all ‘knew better’ is so dumb!

These essays make some compelling points but so far do nothing to answer the titular question. I had been alerted to the fact that this was a memoir beforehand, and somehow I'm still surprised.

Wicked, I’m jumping ship for now…boring shit.

What I was smelling was right, this book is not good. Gay as in bad.

Gay, but possibly gay as in bad. Maybe it’s just short, but it feels like a lot of things are being packed in there quickly, and with no earning from the characters. Why did he think to stuff the leaflets in his bag? More importantly, why did he think of throwing them out a window later? And did he even have time to collect enough leaflets to cover a mob of angry communist victims? Feels gay, but gay as in bad.

Some unnecessary metaphor that feels like an afterthought. Still gay.

Please let this be a better GAY book.
