I am really enjoying the mystery combined with family drama. The part I am currently in is hard to read (sad). Overall it’s really well-done. I think this extra mystery layer is what I missed in when reading, the bright years.

What started as a fun thriller with something Erie lying beneath is turning into something almost evil and hard to read. Maybe I just need a break or maybe the evilness of the husband is not what I’m meant to be reading. If you’ve read this, please let me know your thoughts

Loving the start of this book… we know something is not right and we are just waiting for the reveal. I like that undertone while the set up is still happening.

The writing is beautiful (if not occasionally melodramatic). The character work is great. I love the each chapter summarizes a year in the life of these people/this family. There is more grief than I’d prefer.

“There’s justice and there’s mercy. If you don’t know what to do and you gotta choose one over the other, I say, always go the mercy way. If you make a mistake, make it for mercy. Bad mercy don’t hurt nearly like bad justice. And always remember, the eye of God can see”

It’s good…. But it’s long. I hate to say that I’m a little bored. The stories are good and sweet and the characters are well-developed. And I have a feeling it’s all going to come together at the end… I just need to be patient

It’s a quiet book. I am enjoying it but I am already wishing it was slightly shorter for the quietness of it. Trying to grow my patience and just quietly enjoy it

I have so many mixed emotions while reading this story. I want the best for Eliana and know Christs healing is coming at the end, but I hate reading all the tragedy she must endure.

This has been an emotional rollercoaster 🎢 and I fear there is more woe to come. I am enjoying it but also dreading the pages to come and anxious to get to the end where I know she will meet Jesus.

I enjoyed “these silent woods” by this author. This premise didn’t seem as interesting to me but Chantel recommended so here we are 😃. So far, it’s keeping my attention. Kimi builds characters so well. I love learning the back-story of our FMC. Feels layered and deep.
