“Women are supposed to be very calm generally: but women feel just as much as men feel.” This stems from her early childhood. She was invariably shut down with her ideas, told to be silent, and to obey her cruel masters. Never getting the chance to speak her mind, with a new circumstance and opportunity, that will soon change.

“There are people who seem to have no notion of sketching a character, or observing and describing salient points, either in persons or things” Jane Eyre is a most observant and inquisitive character. As a student at Lowood, her friendship with Helen Burns bloomed harmoniously; Jane’s perpetual curiosity that encourages and raises questions, and Helen’s tendency to explain and go in detail of such topics.

“I remembered that the real world was wide, and that a varied field of hopes and fears, of sensations and excitements, awaited those who had courage to go forth into its expanse, to seek real knowledge of life amidst its perils.”

Charlotte Brontë writes incredibly well, it’s difficult to set this book down. Despite their contrast of beliefs, Jane and Helen have a pure friendship; they can truly understand each other; a relationship that Jane has never experienced. Jane is so admirable for preserving to receive good graces from her teachers, regardless of the negative implications of her being a young child of deceit.
