Charlotte Brontë writes incredibly well, it’s difficult to set this book down. Despite their contrast of beliefs, Jane and Helen have a pure friendship; they can truly understand each other; a relationship that Jane has never experienced. Jane is so admirable for preserving to receive good graces from her teachers, regardless of the negative implications of her being a young child of deceit.

As a student at Lowood, her friendship with Helen Burns bloomed harmoniously; Jane’s perpetual curiosity that encourages and raises questions, and Helen’s tendency to explain and go in detail of such topics.
