This story is great. I have no idea why I paused reading it after getting so far but I’m glad to pick it up again.

Wow. Malcolm was never treated poorly by whites. He literally talks about how helpful and kind they were to him in his childhood even when he started stealing. Christians both black & white treated him well yet he can’t stand Black Christians. Whites treated him well yet he hates them.

So far, Spike Lee lied.

The descriptions are kind of precocious just the way writing should be sometimes. Sure, nail those adjectives. Words don’t exist to be useless after all.

All summer, I’ve been keeping my reading pretty light in terms of literary quality. Lake Reads. Nightly-Knitting Reads. And that’s why I barely have anything to say about the past 8 books I’ve read. All I can do is comment on the story itself & whether or not it was suspenseful, entertaining or disturbing.

I actually don’t like the fact that Millie is married to Enzo, it’s not clicking. Like, I don’t see it… they’re both kind of off. I don’t recognize either of them in neither words nor actions.

Shut up, Millie. In the first book, you messed around with another woman’s husband; now you’re mad another woman is checking out your husband.

In part 1, where they knocked on the cottage door to begin terrorizing and assaulting the couple… one thing, Hooligan Alex speaking politely asking to call an ambulance… the people could’ve called one and the police! They were clearly suspicious.

Chapter 2 Nesta: “I am not a thing to be controlled. You don’t control me.”

Well then stop using their money, Nesta. 🙄

Again… Lots of “I, (she, he, they)
*didn’t so much as* [insert verb],” happening. This is just crazy phrasing that I wonder how it translates in other languages because it barely translates as English in English. I dislike this phrase. It’s an expression that doesn’t really work to express anything.

Chapter 8
Lots of “I didn’t do much as [insert verb]…” from Feyre’s narration. I can’t imagine why Maas chose to wear out this phrasing.

Why do I still like Tamlin?! 😑

Golly! How long is this book? I’m glad the guys have stopped turning in to beasts. Everything is more interesting now.

There’s something wrong with this 😒 okay I get it… a fairy is a human-esque being biologically compatible with humans etc.., but I really hate the beast part and Feyre wondering how Tamlin’s beastly purring would feel pressed up against her. I’m going to call that out as bordering on… you know what… and that’s heinous. It totally kills the developing love story. Leave it at an spirit animal analogy.
