I can’t believe how this book is such an interesting story but it’s written in a kind of listing and telling narrative. Maybe that’s a new novel tone category of which I’m unaware.

First, I’m happy to be back to seeing instead of listening i.e. holding a physical book. I’ve missed this experience; and it’s still the standard for me. Second, I already love this book because the MC’s name is Keisha. ☺️ Third, I’m glad I raided my book shelf to find something light on TBR. 😊

Yay! This finally came off hold and available to me at the library! 😀 I am enjoying The Rackateer by John Grisham but I have to put it down for now.

Pfft! Go to hell, Antonapoulos. 🙄

This book needs to pick up within the next chapter (29) or else it’s going in DNF. I’m getting tired of Katie’s narrative,

Nana was a gangster in her youth but all I can see is Jessie from Toy Story as Winifred/Jane Wayne.🤭

Definitely a page-turner so far. And the writing is one of my favorite Descriptive literary styles.

My frustrations with Alex and Sandra are no more. I feel deeply sorry for them both now.

Casey should not give Alex and Sandra her baby. Alex is a doofus and Sandra is not right in her heart about hardly anything.

And Sandra is really annoying and chronically narcissistic. I don’t blame Tara for not wanting to get to know her any further. She actually thought Blake should introduce them first to get Sandra’s approval of Tara. What makes Sandra think Blake needs her approval of the woman he’s choosing as his wife?

Okay, I’m listening to it on audiobook and I think it’s the narrators fault for making me hate Alex. There’s something she does with his dialogue where she makes him sort of sing the end of the last word as if he’s a complete lunatic. He seems immature enough without her making him worse.

Why does Alex seem like he’s 10 years old instead of middle-aged? What kind of man is so immature and poorly expressive? He seems like too much of a weirdo.

Alex seems insane.

I’m Chapter 3 and I already think that Sandra is stupid. I hope she becomes more likable.

Ziggy (the dog) is kind of annoying but, “iF a doG DoEsn’T like yOu” that means you’re evil. Hashtag ‘pet worship’

This story is great. I have no idea why I paused reading it after getting so far but I’m glad to pick it up again.

Wow. Malcolm was never treated poorly by whites. He literally talks about how helpful and kind they were to him in his childhood even when he started stealing. Christians both black & white treated him well yet he can’t stand Black Christians. Whites treated him well yet he hates them.

So far, Spike Lee lied.

The descriptions are kind of precocious just the way writing should be sometimes. Sure, nail those adjectives. Words don’t exist to be useless after all.

All summer, I’ve been keeping my reading pretty light in terms of literary quality. Lake Reads. Nightly-Knitting Reads. And that’s why I barely have anything to say about the past 8 books I’ve read. All I can do is comment on the story itself & whether or not it was suspenseful, entertaining or disturbing.

Laure is making it hard to feel sorry for her.

This one has me enthralled.

I actually don’t like the fact that Millie is married to Enzo, it’s not clicking. Like, I don’t see it… they’re both kind of off. I don’t recognize either of them in neither words nor actions.

Shut up, Millie. In the first book, you messed around with another woman’s husband; now you’re mad another woman is checking out your husband.
