This book isn't *bad* but I won't be recommending it anytime soon. It's just... fine. Reminding myself that this guy is a woodworker by trade, not a professional author.

Finally coming back to this! Doing a quick re-read of the first chunk for my Fable book club.

I'm going to be sad when this book is over. This author really knows how to write the most adorable chemistry! 😍

This almost feels like two books in one. Part of it is his tales of becoming a woodworker and his life in that field. Then the other part of it is a lot more random stories about hiking and climbing than I expected, but I don't hate it.

What can I say? This is great

You know how modern Netflix shows spoon-feed you every bit of exposition over and over so you don't actually have to engage with the media you're consuming? This feels like that, but in book form. This book wants to be deep and dark and dramatic SO badly but it feels like it was written by a high schooler. Maybe if you were putting it down for days at a time the constant "telling" would be useful?

This is so goofy and there is so much "telling", Characters conveniently overhear everything they need to or lore dump at each other constantly. It's cracking me up, still enjoying it so far but it's certainly not elevated writing by any means.

I read this book so many times when I was a kid. Let's see how it holds up as an adult. I'm a little scared lol

This is such a good slow burn, slice of life, inspirational story with developed and complex characters. I hope the payoff in this one is worth it!

Kinda waiting for this man to bring something to the table besides being rich and nice. Dolly is such a skilled problem solver and this man can't even scramble eggs? Please tell me this man acquires or reveals some actual skills that would make him a good partner.
