George Smiley is actually a diva:

He hates his boss and begrudgingly goes to this random town outside of London, to interview the wife of this dude everyone thought he drove to his death. After picking up the telephone in her house and assuming it was for him (it was literally just an alarm), he goes and starts a bromance with a policeman and they driving back to London and unanimously decide to turn around.

I know it’s a matter of perspective, but it seems that Douglas is the only not irritating person in this book.

I keep wanting to describe this book as ‘if Adam Kay wrote a novel’, and then I remembered he had and this is it.

The first chapter reminds me of the beginning of Matthew — where he gives a list of Jesus’ lineage leading to the man himself — but roughly fifteen times the length.

Twice in one chapter, two different people have told Marvin that he _needs_ to listen to this. Poor guy. He wont ever listen to a podcast again.

I tried so hard to like it, but this is the first DNF of this year.

Loosing hope as I read pages 165-180 and they’re literally just about a flea.

I have a whole notes document full of quotes from this book.

Just finished reading Robert Frobisher’s letters to Sixsmith: “Was infatuated by Eva Crommelynck for a blink of an eye, but we both know in our hearts who is the true love of my life.”

And then he dies.

Letters from Zedelghem is the best romance story I’ve ever read. I sure hope nothing bad happens to Robert Frobisher.

The First Luisa Rey mystery was really cool: the plotline was great but then Luisa Rey falls off a bridge. Why? And there’s a 2nd part later on as well?

Timothy Cavendish is having a ghastly time.
