oh wow i love this

im gonna finish this cause its a surprisingly easy read, but oh dear god this character is a loser. she has no substance and honestly thus far this feels like the portrait of a girl ive met a million times over in so many books. even the political commentary — if you could even call it that is so disconnected.

hmm idk how i feel thus far, shes insufferable and insincere im sad cause so many people rave about this book and this character and shes falling flat for me

ok. 300 pages away from the end and i will say i like it. its not horrible, there are definitely some horrific parts and themes im not sure were necessary to build kaine and helenas relationship but the political intrigue is good, the world building is decent, idk man.

ok this was going good, and then it kinda veered off, and now we’re kinda getting somewhere again
