I am way more bored with this than I anticipated I’d be. It has so many fun elements, but I think the FMC is not an interesting enough personality to be enjoyable to read.

This is an absolute delight. A nice refreshing fanciful fiction that just feels cozy. Adorable concept.

Having just read A Gentleman in Moscow, it is a bit funny to read about bread being left after someone passed. (If you get that on both counts, wow.)

It’s really bugging me

I continue to be baffled by the spacing in this book. It’s bizarre and keeps making me think different lines are said by the wrong character.
For instance, let’s say it’s a conversation between Billy and Joe.
The page looks like this:
Joe stared ahead. “Should we go running?” Billy wiped his brow.
“I can’t run when it’s sunny.” Joe shook his head.
“I know, Billy. I like rain”

I enjoy the comparison of haunting memories to silt at the bottom of a lake. The quote that “the water clear and calm and blue as the sky if you stay near the surface. But if you go deep, if you kick your feet, you may stir up the dirt. It might swirl and churn, and then your whole world goes dark”

I love a summer camp read in the summer. Bonus, the day after I picked it to start it was on the revealed Goodreads reading challenge. Score

Still going. At least something happened. It was rushed and not well written... But it’s moving

Slowly introducing my child to the wonders of Hogwarts 😍

The writing is so choppy it’s distracting. This was my Michael Jackson themed mistakes day. The word blanket was capitalized randomly mid sentence and someone asked “what’s he matter” instead of “the matter,” making me think of the famous “hehe” MJ was known for.
If I continue, I might as well make it a fun hunt for errors.

Phew. Made it over half way.

There’s pressure as the only person on Goodreads to have read this, or attempted, but I’ll be honest for when the second person reviews in twenty more years.
And honestly… might DNF.

Possibly my first DNF. Even as an audiobook, this is not keeping my interest. I suspected changing POV would get tiring but damn.

I’m sticking with it but man, it’s a slow start.

Slow start, for sure, but just compelling enough. Also reviews I’ve seen say it’s good so we shall see
