I’m about to shit my pants. I haven’t read a thriller thriller in a while and I legit don’t want to go pee because my apartment is making noises and I’m 100% gonna get murdered. BOOKS HOLD POWER OVER MY ABILITY TO PISS IN PEACE

Honestly this one quote kind of stuck with me a little. “ I put my hand to my thighs, feel between my legs. There's some kind of thick nappy-thing, but no pain. No cuts. No bruises on the inside of my thighs. Whatever happened, it wasn't that.”
Every woman reading this knows what is meant. The anxiety of something like THIS happening to one. And the fact that it doesn’t have to be written out is telling itself.

It’s finally picking up speed and not as political as in the beginning and more emotionally written.

Her description of fear is also remarkable, the uneasy feeling the reader gets ‘don’t go out there kayaking smth bad is going to happen’. And maybe smth bad will happen - it’s a thriller at last. But this is exactly what fear feels like: uncertainty but still doing it.

“Like other things her dad had taught her - how to tie a bowline, navigate with a compass, start a fire with flint- she felt them in the foundations of her being”.
At this point I’d like to shoutout my Mom and Dad for teaching me such valuable things all my childhood that helped me grow so independent, especially as a woman.
