The plot of this book greatly intrigued me and I'm so glad to say it's actually living up to my expectations for it. It has the perfect ratio of girlishly indulgent to my romantic fantasies to interesting mystery plot line. Though I'm barely halfway through, I can see myself reading the next book.

I'm trying not to DNF a book so early on if at all, but it's getting progressively more difficult with every mention of Effy's "face warming" and "tears pricking at her eyes."

The more I read, the more I see what the author is attempting and unfortunately failing to do. I can tell she is trying to make this an enemies to lovers, but the enemies is one-sided from the FMC. At this point, she supposedly can't stand him but also wants to come to him with her personal issues? And thinks of him fondly all of a sudden? It's a messy transition from enemies to lovers, so much it feels forced.

To be completely honest, I'm not enjoying it very much. The main character is a bit annoying, veering towards insufferable. The writing/storytelling is a bit immature; maybe I would have enjoyed this in middle school with 'Shatter Me', but not so much now.
The plot is vaguely interesting, so I believe I can probably make myself finish it. But I'm not seeing myself reading the sequel.
