getting away from already being pretty much away from it all. UGH. holy peak yet again it’s really funny the first part is even screwball comedy esque. i lovr these stories of foster wallace going to random events around the US and such bc it’s really funny imagining a fan of his literature seeing DFW just chilling at the junior baton twirlers competition at the illinois state fair

E Unibus Pluram: television and US fiction. holy.... PEAK! its been said before but its crazy how relevant this essay is today if u just replaced mentions of TV with social media. Love the way he equates TV as "stimulating while relaxing/ taking without giving" bc that really how is it. Makes me realise how there isnt really any post-modern work abt social media out there... someone needs to do something abt this....

derivative sport in tornado alley: definitely in the class of wallace essays where the premise is a hard sell but still enjoyed it i like how wallace’s explanation of his tennis strategy makes him sound like a shounen protagonist.
