The initial schadenfreude has worn off and I really hate the love interest (95% that this is intentional) so I hope something big happens in the plot soon.

The first few stories didn’t grab me a ton but around the time of “El Tim” I started to get completely obsessed. I love this writing so much that recommending it to someone almost feels like telling them too much about myself. My favorite story so far is probably “let me see you smile” or “toda luna, todo año”

I absolutely hate this writing style! It’s so childish and not in an amusing way. The central mystery is interesting enough, but it is not getting more interesting as points get added to it, like the writer seems to think it is. I’m reading it for a book club so just powering through.

Finally getting to this after years of it being on my list. It’s definitely good but a more challenging read than I was expecting. The allusions comparing her family members’ lives to literary classics are pretty intense, but I really appreciate them - as someone who also prefers to process emotion through art

Considering having my students read parts of thjs as our first book of next school year, since we have a lot of English and Spanish copies.
