I’m enjoying this book but it’s been a slow burn. The main character is a stay at home mom, artist and is struggling with the reality of “obliterating domesticity” - something I can very much relate to. I’ll probably come back to this but for now I’ve got it on pause while I finish up a re read of TOG & await the new ACOTAR.

Absolutely loved the re-read. My love for Cassian is forever solidified.

Completed the Maasverse - headed back to square one in anticipation of her new books! This time I’m listening to everything on audible (10th anniversary edition) and I’m picking up SO much more. Excited to experience this series again.I truly cannot do the moaning and skin slapping of the graphic audio. This feels like a cozy hug after reading TOG & CC 😂 (so far)

Love me a southern gothic. This is not disappointing. I’m reading this on kobo, but there’s also an audible version that based on the preview, would be addicting.

I’m finding this to be a really refreshing take on modern high fantasy. Some of SJM’s strongest writing. Only 50% through the first book and I feel this is already more impactful and fleshed out than TOG or ACOTAR. The tension building between characters is also *chefs kiss*

This is lovely. A short and digestible read so far.Something I sought out as our world feels too much. Instead of focusing on headlines and redacted horror stories, this has been a gentle, reflective breath that life is still good and continues.

Started reading this a while ago but couldn’t get into it. But I also couldn’t stop thinking about it over the months. I’ve read her anthologies of short stories and have always liked her dark yet oddly benign world of South American occult. (Argentinean). Enjoying this on Audible.

Slow start, and I regretted not doing the tandem read with empire of storms. However, the plot is starting to pick up at the midway point and I’m appreciating Chaol and Nesryn’s stories and how it connects to what I assume with be absolute madness in Kingdom of Ash. I don’t want this series to come to an end but alas, all good things do.

This has been on my TBR forever and since I’ve committed to reading every unread book on my bookshelf - here we are. Honestly unsure what age the audience for this is, it’s giving YA but it’s also the holocaust? I’d say this has been written at a grade 6-8 reading level and the depth seems to be about the same? I could just be dissociating though.

So I’m glad I’m reading this - as a mother of soon to be two boys. I’m having a hard time relating to the far left super liberal framing of a feminist critique on gender differences but it’s redeeming itself by backtracking on her preconceived notions as her three boys continue to grow. A lot of good points on the socialization of boys who turn into men.

Very intrigued by the idea of institutionalized organ donation. I saw the movie many years ago when it first came out but don’t remember much exactly. Looking forward to finishing the book and watching the movie again!
Just got to part two at 40%. Part one is the backstory of Ruth, Tommy & Kath’s time as adolescence. Slow start but my interest is earned!!

This is a book I’d read if I was a man using the bathroom. Maybe I’d read a tidbit once or twice a day. I’m listening to this on audible in my moments of quiet chores. It’s nice to have snippets of pre internet life remarked, and remember the drudgery of a certain task or the nostalgic preciousness we won’t have again. Light and easy so far, in small doses.

Just about to start “The Assassin and the Empire” . While I still feel this is a little juvenile - the story is getting much better. I’m also reading this as a 30 year old 😂 It’s giving really good insight into why Celaena is the way she is and the backstory to her relationships to Sam and Arobynn (if like me, you started with Throne of Glass)
