I genuinely can't tell if the author has ever met an American before because Beck is so cartoony and over the top. Tbf, Connie/Hazel is also pretty cartoony, but she feels a tiny bit more grounded as a character.

This might be past my threshold for cringe but I do want to know where it's going...

Really having mixed feelings about this. After Ariadne helped Theseus and he left her on Naxos, she's become a spectator rather than an actual participant in her story. Within the constraints of the myths I think she could still have agency but in this book she really doesn't.

I'm still wondering what the point of all of this is. It's so late in the book and Ariadne and Dionysus are arguing bc humans have such short lifespans... but Ariadne becomes a goddess in the end of her myth so that's completely moot??? Unless the author has changed the ending I don't get why this is happening.

I don't think a woman in Ancient Greece, especially the wife of a god would be horrified by animal sacrifices. I get why she didn't like innocent Athenians being fed to the Minotaur bc that was needlessly cruel. But animals... Idk it rubs me the wrong way. With so little left I'm trying to figure out how this will end. Ariadne becomes a goddess so does love conquer all or is she trapped?

I was hoping for a little more focus on the romance. Also Ariadne is telling us her story, meanwhile most of the book is other characters telling her their story.

Rereading since I got my hands on the illustrated edition.

It's been a while since I've read books from this series but this one really hasn't captured me like I remember the other ones did. I like the concept of the penny dreadful chapters but these stories aren't as interesting to me, especially the one written by the male lead. Also I don't think Gemma has been described once aside from being thin. Like what color hair does she have, what color eyes ㅠㅠ

I still deeply miss Lord Conall Maccon 😔 the mere mention of him isn't enough

I don't get why people don't like Lord Akeldama, he's so sweet and has hidden (or not so hidden if you're paying attention to the very obvious facts) depth.

Ok so they've combined some scenes then... hmm...

I'm reading this and the novel simultaneously and the manga skips over a lot... I knew it would skip some but whole characters and action scenes. Didn't get the scene of Ivy showing she's not as dumb as everyone thinks (unless that comes up later) I'm a little disappointed.

Two high born men beating each other up while their friends stare at them is hilarious.

Also this entire family needs therapy.
