The first 25% we get beat over the head with Vin's trust issues. Not bad so far. I'm interested.

Excellent book. Excellent characters & story arc. Very few slow places for a book this size. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series. Definitely recommended.

Very much enjoying what I'm reading. The pacing dips a little at places but picks back up again quickly.

Intriguing so far. Decent character introductions with a little action & world building spun in.

I despise dumb main characters. In addition the "angry son who hasn't spoken to his father in years then finds out daddy is dead & feels all these conflicting emotions" trope is just... ick! It almost always comes off poorly written. If you spent a lifetime growing up with a distant un-caring father then his death isn't going to be that upsetting. If you were close the two would've made things right in short order.

There are so many characters it's difficult to get deeply invested in any one. They are mostly interesting but about the time I'm starting to become absorbed in their story the focus shifts again to a new character.
Unless the last half of the book really draws me in I'll probably be done with the series.
