If you want to write a book about teenage girls, just make your lead characters teenage girls.

I'm not very far in, but I look at the reviews and I feel a majority of the "masterpiece! Brilliant and beautiful!" five star reviews can be explained by a line from this very book: "He suspected that people were subtly bullied into faking appreciation in order not to appear uneducated fools." Yes, he wrote Atonement. Yes, it's a great book. Doesn't mean he's incapable of writing a dull, meandering, boring-ass book.

Sometimes you just see the premise of a book and think, "Okay I have got to read this insanity..."
