DNF at 17%. I went in hopeful and left irritated. Brooks deserved so much better than being surrounded by manipulative, small-town homophobic nonsense disguised as quirky charm. Everyone but the main character was exhausting, and I wasn’t willing to spend more time watching him get steamrolled. Definitely wish I’d checked reviews first.

Look it’s too late to DNF at this point and I get it… historical fiction for an queer love, sometimes sad & frustrating. Regardless, I want to throw my Kindle. I just need to trust the process.

Sigh…I swear I don’t mind a decent amnesia trope but there is so much manufactured conflict versus organic conflict.

I was skimming before the 50% mark but I’ve invested too much time to DNF, and I refuse to not know who the bad guy is.
