Still just as good as the first time.

I haven’t read all year. Picked up Lily and the Octopus and what a fucking downer. And so maudlin. I might come back to it, but it put me off reading completely. So I’m just going to start MY year off right with a reread of my favorite book.

I’ll hold off commenting too much before I finish, but I do feel like I’m reading a book by a circuit boy. The drugs seem really idolized, which sorta feels immature. Like, I get it, you think drugs are really cool. Interesting story, sometimes hampered by wannabe poeticism. I think the people who are calling out the sex and laughing need to grow up. It’s not that much. I think it’s just because it’s gay.

Does anyone know what “the boot” and “the quilt” are when with Doyler? It seems they are people? I might have missed something in my reading, but I was suddenly very confused at the beginning of Ch 17. Anyway, still really enjoying it despite my stunted vocabulary (Irish and otherwise).

It’s taking me time to get thru it. It’s a bit of work, honestly, but it’s really worth it for the story it’s telling.

Ok, it’s cooking now… just took some getting into, but I’m enjoying it now.

Actually started this yesterday and I’m not sure I know what it’s about yet.

Oh god… I’m not sure I’ll get thru this book. It took me 1h40m to read 20 pages (that’s 5 minutes a page). I haven’t felt a book was this much a slog since high school AP English and we read Walden. It’s making my ADHD really kick into high gear. I find myself needing to re-read entire pages because while reading, my brain was thinking about buying a new pair of glasses. I really hope it picks up.
